Coding Interviews

Assess coding ability with confidence

Run a dedicated Coding Round of test-case questions for DSA-heavy roles, or fold coding questions into a Technical Interview where the AI judges the approach, not just the output. Either way, the code is assessed inside the same monitored interview and scored in the Evaluation Report.

Zinterview's in-interview code editor with a candidate writing code

In short

Zinterview assesses coding in two ways: a dedicated Coding Round of test-case questions built for DSA, and coding questions inside a Technical Interview where candidates write code and explain their approach. Both run in the same monitored interview and land in one Evaluation Report.

How it works

Two ways to put coding in the interview

01

Choose the round

Set up a dedicated Coding Round of test-case questions for DSA, with a time limit per question or for the whole interview. Or add coding questions to a Technical Interview alongside spoken conceptual ones.

02

Candidates write code

Candidates write code in the live editor during the interview. In a Coding Round it runs against your test cases; in a Technical Interview they solve and explain their approach. The same full-screen lockdown and monitoring apply throughout.

03

Review in the Evaluation Report

The AI scores the code alongside the rest of the interview: test-case results for a Coding Round, approach and logic for a Technical Interview. The Evaluation Report shows the reasoning behind the score.

Capabilities

A real coding environment, under real oversight

Technical interviews shouldn't force a choice between rigor and flexibility. Candidates get a real editor, inside the structured, monitored interview you run for every role.

Code inside the interview, not a bolted-on tool

A production-grade code editor is built into the interview flow, so a candidate answers spoken questions and writes code in one continuous session. There is no hand-off to a separate platform, no second login, and no lost context between conversation and code.

FAQ

Common questions

Yes, in two ways. A dedicated Coding Round runs coding questions with test cases, built for DSA, and a Technical Interview can mix coding questions with spoken conceptual ones. There is no separate toggle: any technical opening can include coding questions.

Zinterview supports a wide range of popular programming languages. In a Technical Interview the candidate codes in the language they prefer. In a Coding Round, a recruiter can fix the language per question when the role calls for it.

It depends on the round. In a Coding Round, each answer is run against its test cases and graded on the results, and the candidate can also explain their approach, which is scored too. In a Technical Interview there are no strict test cases: the candidate writes and explains a solution, and the AI judges the approach and logic. Both feed the Evaluation Report.

Yes. In a Coding Round you set a time limit either per question or for the whole interview, so candidates solve under realistic constraints.

Yes. Coding runs under the same integrity controls as every Zinterview: full-screen lockdown, tab-switch detection, camera and secondary-camera monitoring, and identity verification before the interview starts.

Yes. In a Technical Interview a candidate can answer a spoken conceptual question and then a coding question, one after another, and both are scored in the same Evaluation Report. A Coding Round, by contrast, is only coding questions.

Interview for skill, not recall

Add a Coding Round or coding questions to your next technical opening, and assess how candidates actually build.
